I
cover thousands of miles in the desert -on foot hiking and climbing,
sometimes on horseback or in a light plane, or driving- and looking
for an intersection of time and place that reveals more than itself.
I try to catch and understand these in my drawings and photographs,
bring them and my feelings back to my studio, and then I try to make
works that make me dance. The piece in this show represents one of those
images I've brought back to work on, to work out, to work. It's standing
in line with others, waiting to be a wall-size painting, but it's a
long line, and I'm at least 500 works behind. |
