My work is grounded in the human figure.
Endless stories can be found in the skin
that covers us. Without the easy seduction
of a pair of eyes, a portrait of a body
part can be more telling than that of a
face. These charcoal drawings are portraits
of my hands -hands that represent my only
power, my ability to make images. I work
in charcoal for the power of the blackness,
the deep endless void it can represent.
The hands struggle to remain in the light.
