My series “Landuse” consists of eleven images, 61x52 inches,
and are color type C prints. These images are a mixture of public
and private places within Southern California. Having a B.A. in Urban
Studies and an M.F.A in Fine Arts I find my self-continuing to investigate
urbanization and its complex issues while at the same time searching
and probing at making art that has links to reality yet also imagination.
Looking at these large scale prints one questions whether they are
models (miniatures) or actual real life spaces. I am bending the line
between the artificial and the inartificial by using a large format
camera (a 4x5 view camera) and strategically playing with its features
to carefully compose an image. It is important that these images contain
ambiguity and substance and at the same time are beautiful in physicality. |
